Krishna- The enigma
The
dark jambul coloured icon, surrounded with cows gazing at him with soulful eyes,
has a calming effect on the mind and soul. The rhythmic brush strokes and the
strong hand movements playing with colours weave the unmistakable magic and
gives life to the iconic God-Krishna.
The
forms, the textures, the lines, the dots and layering of colours are reflective
of Ashok Hazra’s connect with the god himself. Each frame shows the immense
soul searching which has gone into giving a body to the enigma of a God.
The
fish, the rustic hut, the banana groves the
water lilies, are symbols Ashok Hazra uses to connect the currents of thoughts
and his life, with his theme.
In today’s world we try to look for peace in
times of conflict and it is in Krishna, his “lila” and mysticism that we find
solace. The spiritual essence of Ashok Hazra’s existence
and journey in life is reflective in his theme which touches the soul in more
ways than one.
