Dipak Banerjee’s work shows an interest in the
construction of designs with two dimensional geometric shapes of contrasting
characters. He constructs designs in which linearly delineated shapes from taut
symmetrical configuration. But his painting cannot be called geometric abstract
constructions, for at the same time, one finds tonally graded colors
overflowing linear limits of geometry and various kinds of surface textures,
effected through whispering calligraphy and aquatint, enlivening up the surface
organically. - Pranabranjan Ray (Art Historian)
